Mike Atkin

A graduate from North Harford in 1972. He wrestled, ran track/cross country and played football, lettering 12 times.

After high school, Mike competed for Harford Community College, Towson State University, ultimately joining the US Army where he wrestled in events throughout Germany.

After the Army, Mike worked for the Army’s Research Laboratory on the Proving Grounds. After several years off the mat, he decided to give Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu a try. Mike immediately found success in the Masters Level at multiple weight classes. In his 15 years as a competitor, he won various world titles a total of 8 times, including the 2006 World Championships in Brazil where he was champion in 2 weight classes. Mike retired last season as an assistant wrestling coach at North Harford High School.
